About the event

HISTORY OF THE MANOR HOUSE

Richard de Marnham erected Bromwich Hall in the 1270s, and today, it stands as a crucial relic of medieval timber-framed architecture in the Midlands. Across its remarkable 750-year span, this hall has housed a diverse array of residents, from the Solicitor General to Charles I, to everyday families when it transitioned into tenements in the late 1800s.

Throughout its history, Bromwich Hall has seen transformations, serving as a public house from the 1960s onwards. Initially, it held a prestigious status, attracting footballers and VIPs who frequented its dining areas. However, in 2009, the pub shut its doors.

The hall itself is a stunning structure made of red brick, boasting a sizable courtyard encircled by a moat. Its entrance is a majestic archway, complete with a portcullis and drawbridge, evoking a sense of historical grandeur. Upon stepping inside, visitors are treated to a collection of period furniture, artifacts, and captivating displays, providing a vivid glimpse into the past.

PARANORMAL

It seems there have been reports of strange occurrences in this area,  with sightings of apparitions believed to be Bertrum and Nicholas, two  brothers from the 14th century. Those curious about encountering these  spirits seem to find the kitchen steps a promising spot. Visitors have  recounted seeing not just the brothers but also the ghostly figures of  an elderly man with a long beard and two young girls during their time  there. The connection between these apparitions remains a mystery,  adding to the intrigue of the site.
